Mail chimp banner MirandaI find that I can so easily get all wrapped up in my thoughts and how I want things to play out.  As each part of the day unfolds I am busily working away at something, heading in some direction. Pretty soon I have this feeling that there is so much to do and I just have to get going or I won’t get everything done.  Then a restlessness sets in and I am hurried and bothered, especially if unexpected events or people show up, or my tasks don’t go quickly and smoothly so I can reach that plateau of – finished!

But this is all a mind game.  I have been caught here before.  I have learned that if I just stop, slide into the empty mind that meditation has shown me exists, I will be free of these feelings.  When my mind is free of gathering important things to be done, I instantly relax and feel my peace return.  Once I am settled back into my happy contented place I instantly see that half the things I felt I had to do were of no consequence, and just busy work created by an overachieving mind.  I can sense the few things that I would like to do and let all the others go.  I can gently do these activities with joy and a lightness of heart.  There is no push, no need to reach that place called – finished!  The doing of the choice activities bring their own joy.  I am happy.

“When you become quiet, you let yourself relax into the moment, into your true nature.”  Adyashanti, Emptiness Dancing

Meditation has taught me so much.  I have learned the beautiful expansive experience of an open and free mind.  I can now see when the mind is dogging me, pushing me into useless activities.  I catch myself reflecting back, judging the day, and I know the mind thrives on criticism and creating self doubt.  But I can stop it now, I can change directions and slide gently into a space of peace and love.  No longer am I a victim to a hungry mind starving for drama and intrigue.  I know how to feed it gentleness, acceptance and love.  I watch as it drinks in the powerful emotions that it has been longing for, and I feel it override the chaotic need for drama once it is filled with the soul soothing serenity that it truly desired.   Then all seems right in the world.

If you are plagued with an unsatisfied, demanding, chaos creating mind, I would suggest learning to meditate, to free your mind of its shadowed condition, and allow it the experience of sunshine and joy, that it may return to it’s naturally creative and abundant state where it works to serve your highest good.

Meditation, to quiet your mind,  is the purest form of transforming a life that I have ever encountered.

The Light Within

The infinite potential you seek is within you.  It resides there as it always has.  It is like a light that will show you the path to your happiness, joy and prosperity.   It is necessary to find some quiet time to listen for the wisdom contained within this light.  But it is very difficult to find when we … Continue reading “The Light Within”

Discover Your LightThe infinite potential you seek is within you.  It resides there as it always has.  It is like a light that will show you the path to your happiness, joy and prosperity.

It is necessary to find some quiet time to listen for the wisdom contained within this light.  But it is very difficult to find when we are so distracted by the many interesting and chaotic events and circumstances that seem to be everywhere.  We must make a choice.  We can either be caught in the world of games and emotional dramas all day long, or we can choose to find some time for the light within.  Finding the light within and listening carefully will change our experience of life.

The choice to reach for,  and connect with the light means that we value love and light more than the games of this world. Find some time to sit quietly and still the mind.  When you can sit without thinking, your light within will begin to emerge all on its own.  Simply steal a few moments here and there to practice not thinking.  This will start the process.

Learning to meditate will really help you develop this skill.  But every opportunity you take to still the mind will encourage the light within you come forward.  Just trust the process and experiment with it.  you will undoubtedly begin to feel peace and serenity as the light begins to shine.

Everyday is a choice.  Will you take some time to focus on love and light or continue to play the games of the ego and get lost in the world?

“You may experience a sense of perfect peace, a sense of truly being home.  You may experience a great, brilliant, all-consuming light that fills, illumines and magnifies your very being in such a fantastic way that no one ever actually has been able to put it into words…  But the one thing you most definitely will experience when you reach your inner Consciousness is the serenity of knowing without confusion, and an abiding peace and joy that will carry over into your active life even when you are not in these quiet meditational periods”

Ann Wigmore, “The Healing Power Within”

Return to Eden

Was there really a Garden of Eden?  It was said to have been a place of perfect peace where we lived with God, the Divine spirit and creator.  In the Garden we supposedly knew no pain and lived in simplicity and grace.  What really happened to that garden and why did we leave?  Were we … Continue reading “Return to Eden”

Return to Eden banner smallWas there really a Garden of Eden?  It was said to have been a place of perfect peace where we lived with God, the Divine spirit and creator.  In the Garden we supposedly knew no pain and lived in simplicity and grace.  What really happened to that garden and why did we leave?  Were we really booted out for eating an apple?

Our nature is such that we must know for our selves.  We are not content to know of possibilities, we want experiences.  So apparently we chose to understand good and evil for ourselves.  We ate from the tree of knowledge because of our desire to explore beyond the garden.  We wanted to walk through some choices that were not good for us, even deliberately painful.  Why?  Because we long for experience.

Thus we set off to know and understand what was beyond the peace we had eternally lived in. We invited the worst of the worst to see what it could really be like.  We wanted the opposite of what we knew.  And thus we have created a world where everything is possible and pain and suffering are felt by all…because we asked for it.

But what if….

What if we never actually left?  What if we just let our mind wander, wondering what it would be like?  What if we just felt guilty for eating from the tree of knowledge and wondered what it would be like outside of our perfect garden of peace and serenity?  What if this became the era of questioning?  What if we started to daydream about the possibilities?

…the Bible says that a deep sleep fell upon Adam, and nowhere is there reference to his waking up.”  A Course in Miracles

Perhaps the Garden of Eden is a metaphor.  It describes a state of being.  Perhaps it is a place we can return to at any time.  It is our home.

We can know pain and sorrow.  We can know crisis.  They are exciting and make us feel alive.  We can also know peace, serenity and joy.  It seems as though we have chosen pain and fear for so long that most of us have forgotten the way home.

Healing and a return to the state of Eden is only a breath away.  You lived in it for eternity and it seems you just don’t remember.

When you breathe very slowly and deeply, and still all the questions in your mind you will find home.  There is this familiar feeling, a peace that settles in.  Then it comes,… this state of calm and a feeling that everything is all right.  You begin to remember that it was all just an experiment.  You begin to have this familiar feeling, that reminds you of  where you really belong.

The more time you spend in the calm and silence the more you remember the truth of your time in the mystical place called Eden.  Then you decide how much time you will spend at Home in Eden and how much of your time will be spent playing the game of life, of good and evil, of seeking and achieving.

But the game loses its power over you as you realize it is not real.  The more you know of Home, of Eden,  the less you are distracted by the games of life.  Life here begins to be less satisfying when you have awakened a deep truth of peace and serenity.

I would like to encourage you my friends to return to Eden, even just for a visit.  Remember who you are.  Get out of the game, the experimenting with pain and suffering, loss and guilt.  It is not necessary.  You have gotten lost in your quest for knowledge and experience.

Return to that State of being called Eden and we shall all live together in harmony and peace and all will be forgiven.
